Terms of Service

Last updated: June 18, 2026

Welcome to One Line. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and OneLineDiary ("we", "us", "our") governing your use of the One Line journaling app for iOS ("the app"). Please read them carefully. By downloading or using the app, you agree to these Terms.

Acceptance of These Terms

By installing or using the app, you confirm that you accept these Terms and agree to comply with them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

Eligibility

The app is intended for users who are at least 16 years old, consistent with the baseline age of digital consent under EU data protection law. If you are below the applicable age of digital consent in your country, you should use the app only with the consent and supervision of a parent or guardian.

Your Licence to Use the App

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the app on devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial journaling. This licence does not transfer any ownership of the app to you.

Your Content Is Yours

Everything you create in the app — your entries, moods, photos, and other journal content — belongs entirely to you. We claim no rights of any kind over it.

To be clear about how this works in practice: your content is stored on your device (and, if you turn on iCloud Sync, in your own private iCloud account), and we operate no servers. We therefore cannot access, read, view, copy, or use your content. We could not exercise any rights over it even if we wanted to, which is exactly how we designed it.

Acceptable Use

When using the app, you agree to:

  • Use it only for lawful purposes and in compliance with applicable laws.
  • Not reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app, except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by applicable law.
  • Not attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or misuse the app or its security features.

These are simple expectations for a personal journaling app, and we keep them deliberately minimal.

Your Data Is Your Responsibility

Because we hold no copy of your content, you are responsible for safeguarding your own data. The app offers optional iCloud Sync, which backs your journal up to your private iCloud and keeps it in sync across your Apple devices, and export tools (JSON and CSV) in Settings, Privacy & Data so you can save copies of your entries whenever you wish. We strongly encourage you to use at least one of these.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for any loss of data resulting from device loss, theft, damage, or reset; from deleting the app; from operating system or hardware issues; or from your failure to export or back up your content. Your statutory rights as a consumer, where they apply, are not affected by this.

Premium Features and In-App Purchases

The app may, now or in the future, offer optional premium features or in-app purchases. If and when such purchases are offered, they are processed through Apple's App Store and are subject to Apple's terms, billing, and refund policies. Any pricing, availability, or feature set may change, and some features described in the app may not be active. Where mandatory EU consumer protection rules apply to such purchases, those rights continue to apply.

Disclaimer of Warranties

The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of defects.

Nothing in this section limits or excludes any warranty or guarantee that cannot be limited or excluded under the mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence. If you are a consumer in the EU, you keep all statutory rights and remedies that apply to digital products and services, and these Terms do not override them.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of or inability to use the app.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so. In particular, if you are a consumer in the EU, this limitation applies only to the extent permitted by mandatory EU and local consumer protection law, and your statutory rights — including any rights that cannot be waived — remain fully intact.

Governing Law and Your Consumer Rights

These Terms are governed by the laws of the European Union and, where applicable, the laws of the EU member state in which you reside.

If you are a consumer, you benefit from the mandatory protections of the law of your country of residence, and nothing in these Terms deprives you of those protections. You also retain the right to bring proceedings in the courts of your place of residence. We do not require arbitration, and we do not ask you to waive any statutory consumer rights.

The App Store and Apple

The app is distributed through Apple's App Store, and your use is also subject to Apple's applicable terms. Apple is not a party to these Terms and has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the app. Apple provides no warranty for the app, and any claims relating to the app are between you and us, not Apple, except where applicable law provides otherwise.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top, and significant changes may be reflected in the app. Your continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
